The budget bench, and it still carries an ASTM certification — the thing actually worth checking on a cheap bench, because the failure mode is you under a loaded bar.

The flat bench this category was missing. Every other bench ranked here adjusts, and adjustment is the part that wobbles, rattles and eventually develops play. A fixed flat pad has no hinge, no ladder and no pop-pin, so the only things that can be wrong with it are the frame and the upholstery — and at 18 lb of powder-coated steel tube with a 600 lb capacity Marcy states for it, both are competent. Buy it as a dedicated pressing and dumbbell-row bench, or as the second bench that lives next to the rack so the adjustable one stays set where you want it.
